Located in Tuskegee, Alabama, Showcase Miniatures, a premier railroad model kit and manufacturing company, has provided highest quality model railroad accessories since 1995. Our products are produced to exacting degrees, using tried and true manufacturing methods, as well as new state of the art processes.
Walter Vail is Showcase Miniatures' current designer and producer of models and kits. As a young boy many years ago, and not being able to afford to dash out and buy the latest toy, Walter started making his own toys. And now today, he continues to make his own toys and contributes his talents to Showcase Miniatures. Walter has designed many models and kits for companies such as C-in-C Soft Metal Casting, GHQ, FASA and Ral-Partha. His talents were featured in FineScale Modeler Magazine in 1986 exhibiting his techniques of scratch building tiny science-fiction models. We know you will enjoy the products from Showcase Miniatures as they reflect this exceptional talent in fidelity of scale.
Many of the products we produce require assembly, painting or glueing. In the process of building our models we hope that you use proper caution and precautionary measures. If for some reason you are planning on trimming or modifying our models please work safely with tools and materials. The products contained in your order are made of soft metal, plastic resin and/or plywood. When sanding plywood or soft metal be sure to properly clean up when you are finished. Keep your models and related hobby tools stored in a safe place that can not be easily accessed by children.
The models and kits produced by Showcase Miniatures are intended for model builders 15 years and older.

A FAMILY BAKERY
The McKee story began during the height of the Great Depression when young entrepreneur O.D. McKee began selling 5¢ snack cakes from the back of his 1928 Whippet. In 1934, he and his wife, Ruth, bought a small, failing bakery, using the family car as collateral. Money was so tight they had to put up a sheet near the back of the bakery for the family's living quarters.
Despite years of great adversity, O.D. and Ruth's rare determination finally began to pay off in 1960 when they began selling the first family pack of baked goods, naming them after their granddaughter, Debbie. Around this time, the company finally began making a steady profit.
The bakery continued to grow but remained a family bakery. O.D. and Ruth’s sons, Ellsworth and Jack, eventually took leadership positions, and today Ellsworth and Jack's children hold leadership roles. They are beginning to introduce the 4th generation of the McKee family to the business.
McKee Foods stands as a living legacy of a young couple with a big dream. O.D. and Ruth shared a strong commitment to family values that remains our company's foundation today
BRAND HISTORY
In 1960, McKee Foods founder O.D. McKee was trying to come up with a catchy name for their new family-pack cartons of snack cakes. Packaging supplier Bob Mosher suggested using a family member's name. Thinking of what could be a good fit for the brand, O.D. arrived at the name of his 4-year-old granddaughter Debbie. Inspired by a photo of Debbie in play clothes and her favorite straw hat, he decided to use the name Little Debbie® and the image of her on the logo. Not until the first cartons were being printed did Debbie's parents, Ellsworth and Sharon McKee, discover that their daughter was the namesake of the new brand.
Since 1960, Little Debbie snacks have remained a value leader. Currently, they sell for less than other leading brands while providing quality products. More than 75 varieties are available. Little Debbie snacks are available across all 50 states in the United States.
Debbie is still involved with the business today! Debbie McKee-Fowler currently serves on the McKee Foods Board of Directors as Chairman.
The top-selling Little Debbie varieties are Oatmeal Creme Pies, Swiss Cake Rolls and Nutty Buddy Wafer Bars. McKee Foods sells more than 200 million cartons of these three products every year.

Chattanooga Bakery, Inc., is the company behind the South’s most famous of snacks, the MoonPie. This marshmallow and cookie sandwich grew to such prominence as an inexpensive treat that it was celebrated in songs, books, and even a festival or two. Owned by the Campbell family for generations, the company has produced billions of MoonPies over the years. Along the way, Chattanooga Bakery has overcome technical hurdles such as extending shelf life, developing a new product for vending machines, and automating production to keep up with mass market demand. A million MoonPies are made every day. The company has extended the appeal of the classic treat with new coating flavors beyond the original chocolate (which is still by far the most popular flavor) and new sizes. Recognizing the value of its nostalgic brand, it has also licensed the production of MoonPie-themed merchandise.
Chattanooga Bakery was formed in Tennessee at the beginning of the 20th century. It was originally a unit of the Mountain City Flour Mill and industriously developed dozens of products using excess flour from its parent company. These included ginger snaps, lemon cookies, and sugar cookies.
It was a single product, or family of products, however, that lifted the firm to regional, national, and international acclaim. This was the famous MoonPie, the chocolate-coated marshmallow and cookie snack that has become a southern culinary icon.

Hello All
I started designing items for my personal model railroad about 10yrs ago and quickly realized that I needed a way to print these items vs just selling the files to someone else to print. I tossed them up on Shapeways and people were buying and providing feedback.
As time has gone on, I've found SW to be a bit unreliable when it comes to pricing and wanted to get involved with more home printing options. With the availability of the Photon from Anycubic, N scale prints can now easily and reliable be printed to match SW models and not be constrained by their pricing structures.
I will slowly move all my products to Resin over time, but for now, NJOY! what is here and feel free to reach out for questions or custom designs.

Proto Design Labs is investing in model railroading with an intent to make digital products that simplify track infrastructure while modelers add detail and realism to their layouts. Self-contained turnout control is our first step in this journey. Turnouts can be problematic when planning a layout where decisions have to be made about manual versus remote control, DC vs DCC systemwide operation, decoder power and actuator wiring and relating remote switching to physical layout routing. We intend to address these issues with intelligently conceived controls and user interfaces where you are most likely to want them. Several products and extensions to products are far along as our design process works to deliver and evolve items for the marketplace.
In addition to our products, please accept our offering of track plans for N and HO scale for Kato Unitrack layouts. While the plans are from Kato, we decided to make the listings more user-friendly through sorting them by longest dimension and accounting for the number and size of turnouts, crossovers and power feed points. These metrics are intended to help you judge track plan feature complexity by size and turnout count. Enjoy!

We are beyond excited to announce the release of our newest product line, Track Bases for N Scale Model Railroad! We have designed this to work with the most popular commercial brand, but also with our own design. This product line opens up a whole new world of opportunities in the model railroad community!

The N Scale Architect was founded in 1991 by Russ Kaufman who has been active in model railroading since the early 1970’s. Although many model railroaders received a Lionel Train as their first train set, Russ and his brother Bill were bitten by the model railroad bug in the form of an Aurora N-Scale set (if we had only kept the original packaging… !)
Russ started The N Scale Architect based on the encouragement of fellow modelers who thought that the plans he had drawn up for scratch building over the years might be enjoyed by others in kit form. The first kits featured detailed step-by-step instructions with hand drawn illustrations and plastic templates to be used for cutting the various pieces. This tradition of high quality instructions continues with the addition of “in-process” and color photos and, thanks to better computer aided programs, more detailed drawings. These templates have been replaced with laser-cut micro-plywood pieces along with the addition of many detailing castings which are now also available separately as part of our “Making A Scene” product line.
Earlier this Century (whoa… that sounds like a long time ago !), The N Scale Architect expanded their laser-cut kit line into HO and Z scales with the “Heritage Models” (HO) and “Nansen Street” (Z) lines. These product lines not only include laser-cut structures but also detailing castings and cast resin kits.
Further expansion has included the addition of styrene and wood fiber building sheets, the “Model Builder’s Supply Line” which features these products in Z, N, HO, O, G and 1/12th scales. The different sheet styles included in this line now number over 65 ! Additional scenic items including etched brass fencing and premium quality trees in N & Z Scales are now also included in this line.
More recently, the acquisition of the former ‘Shire Scenes’ range of N, Z & HO photo-etched vehicle and scenic detail kits has added over 50 additional products to our lines. This line, know as “Making-A-Scene-Etched” now also includes a number of new designs based on American prototypes.
Please take a look at our catalog. If there’s something you don’t see, please feel free to contact The N Scale Architect with your suggestions for new products and, of course, with any questions. Thank you for visiting our site !
